March 15, 2020
The Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District (FVMRD) has been monitoring information regarding the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). The health and well-being of our community is important and after thoughtful discussion, the FVMRD will close all public facilities and suspend all programs beginning Sunday, March 15th at 6:00pm until further notice. The FVMRD has called an emergency Board of Directors meeting on Monday, March 16th at 10:00am to discuss potential timeline.
With programs suspended and facilities closed, we will work to provide credits or refunds to impacted FVMRD participants. This is a constantly changing situation, so we will keep our website updated as new information is available.
Thank you for helping us to keep everyone healthy!
As valued community members of the Fraser Valley Metropolitan Recreation District (FVMRD) we care about your safety, health and wellness. In light of the continued spread of COVID-19 we have made the following decisions:
- Suspend ALL senior programming at the Grand Park Community Recreation Center effective Monday, March 16th 2020 for a minimum of two weeks.
- Monitor East Grand School District’s decision on closing our community schools. This decision is expected at 7:00pm Sunday, March 15th. IF the decision to close our schools is made, the FVMRD will suspend ALL YOUTH programs until Monday, April 6th.
We will continue to keep you posted via our website www.fraservalleyrec.org.

Grand Park Community Recreation Center Re-Opening
Working closely with Grand County Public Health, the Grand Park Community Recreation Center (“GPCRC”) is scheduled to reopen Monday, June 1, 2020 in a limited capacity. With the reopening of the GPCRC, there will be significant operational changes and policies implemented to limit the potential spread of COVID-19. The number of patrons allowed in the building will be limited. The GPCRC is providing access to three separate fitness areas as well as lap swimming. All guests will be required to wear a face mask or covering at all times except when swimming laps. The exercise equipment has been spaced out to meet social distancing requirements, and patrons will be required to wipe down all equipment after individual use. The facility will close between each workout time slot for cleaning. The GPCRC has implemented one-way entries and exits. Only District and County residents will have access to the facility at this time. Employees and guests will be screened for symptoms of COVID-19 and agree to our COVID-19 waiver upon registration and entrance to the facility. Patrons will be required to register online through our website www.fraservalleyrec.org for a workout time before entering the facility. Instructions for registering are posted on our website. Specific time slots are available for vulnerable or at-risk patrons. All current members have a household for online registration. If you do not know your on-line username and password, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org.
Upon initial reopening, the following parts of the GPCRC will remain closed: leisure pool, hot tub, sauna and steam room, locker rooms and family changing rooms, basketball courts, gymnastic studio, lounge areas, the Playful Penguin room, and the playground. Current operating hours are Monday – Friday 6:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Saturday 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and closed on Sundays.
The aforementioned policies are not an exhaustive list and are subject to change at any time. For more information, please visit www.fraservalleyrec.org and click on the COVID-19 tab. Please note, all information is subject to change based upon Public Health Orders.
During the Safer at Home Executive Order, CDPHE recommends the following to limit the spread of COVID-19:
- Stay at home unless necessary
- Wear a face covering when out in public
- Avoid unnecessary travel
- Limit gatherings to no more than 10 people
- Not go to work if you are sick
- Maintain social distancing guidelines
