Red Cross Classes

Red Cross CPR & First Aid - Blended Learning

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 4 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Students must bring proof of completion of online program in order to attend the hands-on session. You will receive a link from the instructor after your registration and beginning of class.

Red Cross Lifeguard Training- Blended Learning

Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross Certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.You will receive a link for the on-line portion from the instructor after your registration and prior to class start. 7 hours of online training is required before class.

Red Cross Babysitter Training

Business of Babysitting Crash Course
In this crash course, participants will learn how to kick start their first babysitting business, including skills like: creating a schedule, advertising, and more! We will also cover babysitting basics such as diapering and feeding. Each participant will be certified in Pediatric First Aid and CPR.
Pre-registration is required. Please bring snacks and a lunch.

Wilderness and Remote First Aid Training

Whether spending time in the backcountry is your passion or your work brings away you from civilization, you should never have to ask yourself “What should I do now?” The American Red Cross Wilderness and Remote First Aid training gives you the knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform in emergency situations. This class focuses on experiential learning, so participants should come ready for mock emergencies that may involve extensive physical activity. Must be certified in basic CPR and First Aid!!! If you are interested in enrolling in this course and are not currently CPR certified, please email samantha@fraservalleyrec.org to inquire about discounted CPR training. Must be at least six enrolled in the course.

Basic Water Rescue

Red Cross Basic Water Rescue Class  

The Red Cross Basic Water Rescue course will provide you with the knowledge and skills necessary to prevent, recognize and respond to many types of aquatic emergencies. This course will also prepare you for aquatic emergencies by teaching you how to protect yourself while assisting others. The Basic Water Rescue course will not provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to be certified as a lifeguard.
