Red Cross Classes

Red Cross CPR & First Aid - Blended Learning

This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This is a blended learning course including an online portion and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online portion must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion and must be taken on a PC or tablet with a high speed Internet connection. Allow approximately 4 hours to complete the online portion. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a digital certificate for Adult First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. Students must bring proof of completion of online program in order to attend the hands-on session. You will receive a link from the instructor after your registration and beginning of class.

Red Cross Lifeguard Training- Blended Learning - Interested? E-mail laurel@fraservalleyrec.org

Provides entry-level participants the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. Prerequisites: Minimum age: 15 years; Swim 300 yards continuously; Tread water for 2 minutes using only the legs; Complete a timed event within 1 minute, 40 seconds by starting in the water, swimming 20 yards, surface dive to a depth of 7 to 10 feet to retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface and swim 20 yards on the back to return to the starting point, exit the water without using steps or a ladder. Participants who successfully complete the Lifeguarding course receive an American Red Cross Certificate for Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED, valid for 2 years.You will receive a link for the on-line portion from the instructor after your registration and prior to class start. 7 hours of online training is required before class. You must contact laurel@fraservalleyrec.org to register for course. You will be paid for your training time and the class cost will be covered if you pass and work for the Fraser Valley Recreation District.
