After School Climbing Club
Due to the current pandemic, we are allowing a maximum of four participants in climbing club.
Climbing 101
Basic rockclimbing skills taught to 5-11 year olds. We will teach correctly putting on a harness, standard figure eight knot with safety backup, belaying techniques, and moving over vertical terrain. Our emphasis will be safety, proper respect for potential dangers and most importantly to have fun. This class is geared toward youngsters who have a desire to be exposed to the climbing world. Children may ride bus from FV Elementary to GPCRC on Wednesdays.

Instructor Bio
Giuliana (Jules) Sheldon
Jules grew up climbing in the gyms of her native Seattle, and taking climbing trips to Vantage, WA. In 2010 she moved to Carbondale, CO, where she climbed competitively for her high school team.
From 2012- 2014, she lived in San Francisco. Jules spent her work weeks at the climbing gym Planet Granite, and her weekends climbing in Yosemite, Tahoe, and Bishop, CA. At one point, she lived and climbed in Bishop for 3 months.
In the Fall of 2014, Jules moved to Fort Collins to attend Colorado State University. Here, she climbed with CSU’s climbing team. They won Collegiate Nationals in San Diego in both 2015 and 2016!
In college, Jules studied Health and Exercise Science. She draws from her education to improve her climbing, and to better teach climbing to others. She also draws on her experience training with CSU’s climbing team to teach technique, injury prevention, and cross-training.
