Fraser Valley Softball League Rules

League will follow USSSA Slow Pitch rules with the following exceptions. A PDF version of the 2024 USSSA rulebook is available at:

https://www.usssa.com/slowpitch/slowpitch-rules-and-legal-info

  • Recreation / Competitive Division will use a .44 core restricted flight ball.

  • You are out on the second foul after two strikes.

  • USSSA pitch limits are three feet from release (3) and ten (10) feet respectively. The plate is a strike beyond   the orange line.

  • Teams must have at least (3) females playing at all times, a team without (3) females must play with 8 players (6 men, 2 women).

  • A batting lineup may not consist of more than 14 players. In the batting lineup, Male to Female ratio is: 6:2, 7:3, 8:4, 9:5. Teams are allowed to make substitutions to the batting lineup. Any player may be substituted for or replaced and re-entered, provided the players occupy their same batting position in the batting order.

  • Players are not required to play in the field. A player may be a “DH” provided a team does not exceed the 15-player roster limit.

  • All outfielders must remain behind the designated 220′ line for female batters until contact is made. Fielders may not gain an unfair advantage by charging the line while the pitched ball is in the air. If a player cheats this rule, the batter and all runners will advance one base.

  • If a runner is forced out, runner must remove themselves from the play. Failure to do so may result in player ejection. This is covered under offensive player interference in the USSSA rulebook.

  • The battery (pitcher/catcher) can be female to female.

  • Both teams are required to keep score to eliminate confusion.

  • There are no bat restrictions, with the exception that you may not use dented or modified bats and all bats may not exceed 1.2 BPF (Bat Performance Factor).

  • Games will be nine (9) innings. If weather or darkness affect the ability to finish nine (9) innings, captains must agree on finishing a complete inning prior to darkness. ALL games in August will be (7) innings.

  • Any pick‑up players must bat last and play right field or catcher. Opposing team captain must okay any pick- up players. Players may play no more than 3 games as a pick-up player.

  • Mercy rule is 10 runs after 7 innings during regular season. Both teams may agree to keep playing even if one team is down by 10 runs after 7 innings. In the case that teams elect to keep playing, umpires must stay and call the remainder of the game.

  • All alcoholic beverages must remain off the playing field.

  • Fraser Valley Softball uses a team assisted umpire system. If your team fails to show up to umpire designated game, your team will forfeit five (5) runs to each team for your first offense. Missing a second scheduled game will cost your team ten (10) runs per team. Note: These runs do carry over into the tournament.

  • All players must sign roster/waiver form. Players must play in five (5) of the seasons scheduled games to be eligible to play in the End of Season Tournament (does not include injuries).

  • Tournament games will be seven (7) innings with a 1 hour and 15-minute time limit imposed. The mercy rule is 10 after 5 in tournament play.

  • End of Season Tournament Championship games will be 7 innings and no time limit unless dictated by weather or darkness.

  • There will be a five (5) home run limit in all leagues. If each team has hit 5 home runs, the 1 up rule will go into effect. All subsequent home runs will be outs.

Adult Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu

Martial Arts – Jiu Jitzu

The Fraser Rec Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program is a 16-week program of Jiu-Jitsu fundamentals, a great place to learn the basics. Our professors are Brazilian Black Belts and have extensive coaching experience, are certified and have won numerous tournaments at all levels of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Jiu-jitsu is one of two martial arts that are defensive (the other being Aikido). There is no striking and the main goal in jiu-jitsu is to level the field by taking the opponent to the ground to get a submission. Brazilian jiu-jitsu is one of the most effective self-defense martial arts, where real life self-defense situations are explored at the beginning of every class. As a sport, jiu-jitsu has a point system for certain moves and advancements as you progress towards a submission. Jiu-Jitsu is one of the fastest growing martial arts in the world. The uniform fee is an additional $100 for your Gi and Rash Guard if you do not already own one.
